Par score

01

A DLS figure describing the score that would be par at a given moment. Not the same as the final target unless the innings ends there.

The par score is the DLS figure showing where the chasing side should be at a given point, based on the resources it has left. It is a progress marker, not a target.

Teams sometimes read the par score as the target. The target is the figure the chase must reach; the par score only shows whether the chase is ahead or behind.

Questions scorers actually ask

01 Is the par score the target?
No. The target is the figure to win. The par score shows progress.
02 Where is the par score shown?
On the official DLS output the umpires use, and on any tool the competition names.
