A declaration is the batting captain's decision to close the innings while wickets are still standing. It is common in Test cricket and rare in limited-overs matches.

The scorer writes the time, the score and the wickets at the moment of the declaration. The batters at the crease finish not out.

Questions scorers actually ask

01 Who makes the declaration?
The batting captain.
02 Are the batters at the crease out?
No. They are not out, and their scores stand.
