An over is six legal balls bowled from one end of the pitch. Wides and no-balls do not count toward the six. The next over is bowled from the other end, by a different bowler, because a bowler cannot bowl two overs in a row.
Scorers close each over with the bowler's name and the runs in it, then check the book before the next over starts.
Match questions
Questions scorers actually ask
- 01 Why does an over sometimes have more than six deliveries?
- Wides and no-balls are extra deliveries, so the bowler bowls until six legal balls are delivered.
- 02 Can one bowler bowl two overs in a row?
- No. The Laws prevent consecutive overs from the same bowler.
