A run out happens when a fielder breaks the wicket with the ball in hand while the batter is out of the crease and not safe. Either batter can be the one out.

The bowler gets no credit. The fielder who broke the wicket or threw the ball is credited in the fielding figures, and the batter who was out is recorded.

Questions scorers actually ask

01 Does a run out count against the bowler?
No. The bowler does not get a wicket.
02 Can the non-striker be run out?
Yes, if they leave the crease early and the ball is in play.
