The follow-on is the right of the side that batted first to make the trailing side bat again straight after the first innings. It applies only when the first-innings lead reaches the margin in the playing conditions, which is 200 runs in Test cricket.
The captain decides whether to enforce it. The scorer starts a new innings sheet for the side that follows on.
